How interesting do you find writing on your reflective posts on workflow? Why? Why not?

I really enjoy reflective writing, the process of analyzing my work and responding really allows me to critically think about my process and make significant improvements. It is also a version of thinking-out-loud, which allows me to connect ideas more effectively.

Which projects have you enjoyed most? Why?

The project I enjoyed the most is probably the journeys project. For the project I really focused on vernacular architecture that was based on Dubai, UAE. The feeling of being a little home sick had also motivated me more with the project. Researching and reading about the culture, although momentarily, made me feel at home.

Which project did you loathe, hate, or dislike? Why?

I didn’t dislike any of the projects. If theres any project that I think I did poorly for, it's the foundation for sale. I think lack of preparation and traveling had gotten in the way. I did not properly allocate time for each part of the project such as finding the right materials and planning. This lead to a really rushed final model that I was unhappy with.

When you are given a brief, how do you usually get started?

I like to begin by making a mind map and getting some general ideas down. I then like to look at Pinterest and other art related websites for inspiration. One of my favorite pass-times is to go to the library and browse through books, its a really efficient and enjoyable way for me to find inspiration and new artists. So I like to do this in the start of the project as well. All this helps me narrow down my idea for the project.

Is this the best way? Have you noticed any other ways to start working?

I have recently started watching YouTube videos for things that I'm interested in. Learning about artistic movements and just more about the art world in general is good source of inspiration for me.

Do you draw on ALL your resources? Where else could you look? What else could you do?

I generally like to incorporate books and watch videos so I could learn more and add to my research. I felt like some of the previous projects were a bit rushed and therefore couldn’t follow through with that plan. I also enjoy museum and gallery visits and wish it was possible to do that more this past year.

Who do you go to for feedback during a project? What effect does this feedback have on your work? How do you feel about crits?

Although feedback from any of my peers is good and appreciated, I think the person who’s opinion I value most is my tutors. For both of my pervious tutors, their level of expertise and knowledge really seeps into the conversations and crits that we are having. They have never failed to show me different perspectives that I couldn't have even though of and always encourage me to explore out of my comfort zone.

How do you respond to feedback? Do you like to receive it? How do you respond to negative feedback?

Negative feedback in a way feels much more productive, as it tells me what is and isn’t working in the project. It allows me to think about ways in which I can improve my project. While I also do enjoy the positive feedback, I think I work best under constructive criticism.
